The Merciless – Danielle Vega

Forgive us, Father, for we have sinned

Brooklyn Stevens sits in a pool of her own blood, tied up and gagged. No one outside of these dank basement walls knows she’s here. No one can hear her scream.

Sofia Flores knows she shouldn’t have gotten involved. When she befriended Riley, Grace, and Alexis on her first day at school, she admired them, with their perfect hair and their good-girl ways. They said they wanted to save Brooklyn. They wanted to help her. Sofia didn’t realize they believed Brooklyn was possessed.

Now, Riley and the girls are performing an exorcism on Brooklyn—but their idea of an exorcism is closer to torture than salvation. All Sofia wants is to get out of this house. But there is no way out. Sofia can’t go against the other girls . . . unless she wants to be next. . . . – Goodreads.com

I don’t remember where I first heard about The Merciless. I believe it came up as a recommended read in my Google Books account.

The bright pink cover with a pentacle imprinted on thr front in gold was difficult to ignore and once I read the blurb I knew it was something I had to read.

I think the best way I can describe The Merciless is as a perfect mix of Stephen King meets The Craft and Mean Girls.

There is so much action, horror, a fair bit of gore, backstabbing, and plenty of twists and turns.

I loved the characters in this novel, especially Riley with her obsessive, psychotic flair.

I’m really looking forward to purchasing a hard cover copy of The Merciless and The Merciless II when it hits shelves. I think these will definitely be books that I’ll reread and enjoy more than once and they look amazing. Who wouldn’t want them on their shelves?!
