Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag | Blogmas 2019

Blank 4 x 2 in.png

I’ve never done a tag on this blog before, but what a fun way to chat about books and get to know each other!

This tag was created by the wonderful Jenniely! Remember to copy and paste the rules below 🙂

  • Tag & link the person who tagged you
  • Tag and link me/this post (if you would be so kind, I love reading your answers!)
  • Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
  • Tag another 10 people!

Now, let’s find out if I’m Naught or Nice!

  • Received an ARC and not reviewed it
Only once! Except it was an ARC won in a Goodreads giveaway, and I still haven’t read it. It was Maestra, which went on to get really mixed reviews. Maybe I should try to read it next year?

  • Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
I am SO pedantic about reviewing EVERY book I receive on Netgalley that I’m at 100%. It stresses me out to think I might ever not review a book that I receive.

  • Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
Nope! I only post that I’m doing a review if the review is already done!

  • Folded down the page of a book
Oh, hell yes. I do this all the time if it’s a generic copy, or if it’s a book that just feels okay to dog-ear. Never to any vintage books or really pretty ones or hardbacks!

  • Accidentally spilled on a book
I was reading Prozac Nation in the bath once and my bf at the time scared me so badly I dropped the entire book in the water, so, YES. I don’t replace damaged books if they’re still readable because their little tears and warps bring back memories.

  • DNF a book this year
Yes! About 5. There are too many good books out there to not DNF something that you’re not feeling!

  • Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
I constantly buy different editions of my favourite books just to have a pretty cover. I bought a copy of Dracula with a cover that was a scanned painting. Really pretty, but I’ll probably stick to reading my old copy.

  • Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
I constantly listen to audiobooks at work, but when I had my own office, I would prop my book up in front of my monitor and read subtly between jobs!

  • Skim read a book
Oh, yes. Yes. So many. If a book had a great lead up and a bad end, I’ll skim the end. Same with sex scenes. I skim those.

  • Completely missed your Goodreads goal
Nope! I’ve actually exceeded it this year, I set about 85 as my goal and I’ve read over 150 not including DNFs.

  • Borrowed a book and not returned it
Hmm, I think I may have done this as a kid with a library book, but I always return books otherwise, even if it’s years later!

  • Broke a book buying ban
Never been on one! I don’t have that kind of self control!

  • Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
I can start a book, leave it for two years, pick up where I left off and remember the story so… no! I also tend to review as soon as I finish so my thoughts are fresh.
  • Wrote in a book you were reading
    Only for school!

  • Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
When I was a kid, sure, but I grew up before PCs and the internet were A Thing, so I’ll count this as a no haha!

  • Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
Never. I borrowed a book once from a work colleague and when I ended up working there again about 4 years later, I sent the book back via internal mail with a thank you note!

  • Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
No. I feel too guilty! People don’t ask to borrow the books that are special to me, so I don’t mind lending them out. I’ve lent my Mum’s work friend about 10 books this year, I love picking out ones I think she’ll enjoy based on what she asks for, even though I’ve never met her!

  • Broke the spine of someone else’s book
No! Oh goodness, I am SO careful with other people’s books, that’s why I rarely borrow from friends.

  • Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
Nope, I keep the jackets on and just be more careful with them. I usually won’t carry them in my bag, etc.

  • Sat on a book accidentally
I stood on a box of books I’ve packed recently to take a selfie, so I’m going to say I’ve probably sat on one before as well!

10/20! I guess I’m right on the cusp of naughty! I’m going to tag 10 more people, but if you don’t see your name and want to do this tag, go ahead! And tag me so I can see YOUR answers!
