Stay with Me – Ayobami Adebayo

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher via NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Stay with me is the heart breaking and soul shaking tale of a family desperate for a child. Relationships are strained to the point of breaking and cruel, nonredeemable acts.

It is the story of a couple and their extended family so hell bent on having a baby that they will try anything from rituals to polygamy to have one. In this very dynamic and character driven plot, we watch as two people fall in love and the consequences of what that means for them. Sometimes the person you love can’t always give you what you need.

We see a family literally driven to insanity and back against a harsh background and what this means for them individually and as a unit. Can love survive heartbreak?

The characters are flawed and challenging but ultimately you will find yourself sympathetic towards them as victims of their culture and circumstance.

I read this in one sitting. I recommend you pick up a copy upon this novels release on March 2, 2017.
