Pretty Wicked -Kelly Charron

The daughter of a local police detective, fifteen-year-old Ryann has spent most of her life studying how to pull off the most gruesome murders her small Colorado town has ever seen.

But killing is only part of it. Ryann enjoys being the reason the cops are frenzied. The one who makes the neighbors lock their doors and windows on a hot summer’s day. The one everyone fears but no one suspects. – Goodreads.com

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher via Netgalley.com in return for an honest review.

You would think that it would be hard to like a main character that’s a cold-blooded killer, but somehow I found myself almost rooting for Ryann. Not in her murderous ways, but I guess I felt for her in terms of what pushed her to commit these acts.

The novel is quite graphic, as you can imagine when you have a protagonist that enjoys murder and wants to experience all different ways to commit murder, but in no way is it overdone or done just for shock value.

Ryann has a particular way of picking and choosing her victims carefully, going after people she feels deserve to be punished and while she starts out so careful and particular, like most serial killers she starts to become a little unhinged and a little sloppy. As the cops start closing in on a few suspects, the suspense is palpable as you eagerly await her next step.

I can’t wait to read more from this author and definitely recommend picking this book up. I gave it a 5 star rating and on Goodreads it’s currently sitting at 4.77 overall, so you know it’s good!

Pick up your copy on September 30!
